The Firehouse Presents Winemaker Dinner Featuring Emmanuel Kemiji of Miura Winery

SACRAMENTO (April 4, 2008) – Emmanuel Kemiji, founder of Miura and other boutique wines, will be featured at an intimate 7-Course Dinner at The Firehouse on Friday, April 25.  Seating is very limited and reservations are required.

Kemiji grew up in Spain and England, graduated from UC Davis where he earned degrees in Economics, Spanish and Literature while studying Viticulture and Oenology.  He became a Master Sommelier (one of only seven Americans to pass the Master Sommelier exam in London on the first try) before eventually forming Miura Vineyards in 1995, Candela Cellars in 1998 (sister value label), Almvs in 2000 (a Bordeaux blend - Cuvee Kemiji & Portay), Antigv2s in 2001, Acvs in 2003, and two other projects in Spain - Arrels and Clos Pissarra

His Pisoni Vineyard Pinot Noir is a widely acclaimed cult wine.

Aside from his winemaking experience and successes, Kemiji was chosen "Sommelier of the Year" by the California Wine Writers Association and director of Wine & Spirits at The Ritz-Carlton in San Francisco

The 7-Course dining experience will include dishes specially planned and prepared to perfectly accompany Kemiji’s wines such as Smoke Sturgeon Crêpe “Monte Cristo” with crème fraîche and black currant with Tsar Nicoulai caviar, and Sea Scallop with San Marzano Tuscan-braised pork belly with mascarpone-truffle emulsion.

Miura, named for Don Eduardo Miura, the most famous breeder of Spanish fighting bulls, has concentrated on Chardonnay, Merlot and Pinot Noir.

Most of Miura's small output is distributed to fine hotels and restaurants.

The winemaker dinner cost is $145 per person, which does not include tax and gratuity.

Valet parking is available.

The Firehouse was voted Best Wine List, Best Special Occasion, Best Romantic, Best Business Lunch, and  Best Outdoor Dining by the Subscribers of Sacramento Magazine in 2007 and earned the coveted Best of Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator Magazine for the 6th consecutive year in 2007.
