Lloyd Harvego has gone
the extra step as a rookie restaurateur.
Taking over the Firehouse in Old Sacramento, he polished up an aged
dowager, hired a brilliant chef and transformed the menu into a bastion of
full-throttle Pacific Rim delights. Lloyd even affirmed the Firehouse's status
as a proud union house. So naturally
Harvego was miffed when he heard State Senate boss John Burton was upset
about not having a decent union restaurant to patronize downtown after the
demise of Virgo’s. "Did I miss
something?” Harvego asked. Nope, and as soon as the kitchen can whip
up something involving zesty tomatoes (a Burton
favorite), yours truly has it on good authority that the senator from San Francisco will be
beating a path to the Firehouse's back door.
