Celebrate National Wine & Cheese Day with Firehouse GM Mario Ortiz and an El Molino Chardonnay...

Did you know that July 25th is National Wine & Cheese Day...?

Earlier today Mario Ortiz, our General Manager, Wine Director, and one of our twelve sommeliers took a few moments to celebrate on behalf of all of our wonderful blog readers by talking us through the finer points of the incomparable El Molino Chardonnay while showing off a pair of our current cheese plate selections.

Apricot feta, sage Manchego, and goat cheese mousse with grape gelée, local honey, and Marcona almonds...

We've always got oodles of cheese available at the Firehouse. We have a cheese plate during Happy Hour for just $8, as well as our dessert cheese plate which is $20 and features four local cheeses. Additionally, we have a special wine dinner coming up on Friday, August 9th with Schramsberg and Château de Bligny.

This very special event will be limited to very few tickets and will include a multi-course wine dinner led by Chef Jay Veregge and Wine Director Mario Ortiz for an experience like none other. Tickets will also include free valet parking. For menu and ticket info click here. The 4th course for that dinner will be a beautiful Cheese plate (shown to the left). It will also have a luxuriant welcome social before the seated multi-course meal, all of which will involve wonderful pairings of sparkling wine.

Not being poured at our wine dinner, but available continuously here at The Firehouse, is the refreshingly light El Molino of which Mario speaks so highly in the video above.
